Ferncast, a company with expertise in innovative audio software solutions for 24/7 radio and streaming operations, announces the release of aixtream version 3.11. This new software update significantly broadens the platform’s audio transport capabilities, offering enhanced performance, security, and flexibility for professional radio workflows. Designed to meet the evolving needs of broadcasters and audio engineers, aixtream 3.11 introduces new features tailored for Studio-Transmitter Links (STLs) and other demanding audio transport scenarios. Key highlights include MPX output for input to FM transmitters, encapsulation of RTP streams in SRT streams, synchronized AoIP playout, and further improvements of SRT handling.

Additional improvements simplify license management and podcast workflows, such as parallel uploads and configurable upload priorities - soon to be implemented by Deutschlandradio. Offline and online licensing is also more streamlined with integrated license file management. All of these come along with new features designed to enhance the aixtream platform’s performance and reliability.

Key New Features in aixtream 3.11:

  • A dedicated SRT source element
  • Support for RTP encapsulation in SRT
  • MPX signal output
  • Synchronized distributed playout for RTP, AES67 and SRT (RFC 6051)
  • Integrated license file download & updates

In addition to the above major features, version 3.11 includes numerous improvements and general bug fixes. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Support for intput/output-only audio interfaces
  • Allow delaying passthrough data (e.g. raw RTP)
  • (HLS) Support for HTTP servers that do not support listing and mkdir
  • (On-Demand) Parallel uploads & retries
  • (OnDemand) Improved configuration of upload priority

aixtrea version 3.11 will be officially released on 3rd June 2025.
