Stage Audio Works (SAW) recently hosted the launch of d&b audiotechnik’s new, landmark CCL (Compact Cardioid Line Array) system, marking the series’ debut in the South African market. The event, held at the Vodacom Dome in Midrand, near Johannesburg, drew strong attendance from rental and staging companies, live event production professionals and house of worship technicians from across the region.

As exclusive distributor of d&b audiotechnik in South Africa, SAW recognises the importance of providing in-depth training on the new portfolio of products to its valued community in the local market. “We are committed to strengthening local competencies with demonstrations such as these, that are free to attend and genuinely insightful,” confirms Gary Furman at Stage Audio Works. “In turn, we are actively introducing new audiences and potential customers to the latest in professional audio technology, whilst ensuring they have the correct and most up-to-date knowledge to be confident in using these systems.”

Presented by Steve Jones, Team Leader for the d&b audiotechnik Education and Application Support for EMEA and regional d&b sales manager Dane Miller, the launch featured an in-depth technical exploration of the new CCL system, spanning from theoretical and technical insights to deep listening sessions. Attendees had the opportunity to experience, firsthand, the cardioid performance and capability of CCL, highlighting its ability to deliver even coverage and impressive low-frequency management in a remarkably compact format.

“As part of the session, we explored the intricacies of the CL-Series, from theory to practical demonstrations, including detailed listening sessions in front of and behind the array to experience its cardioid performance. From a single hang without processing to a full system with subs and ArrayProcessing, the event was a great opportunity to showcase the versatility of what this compact cardioid line array system can do.”

Launched globally earlier this year, the CL-Series sets a new benchmark in compact line array technology, offering consistent directivity and advanced cardioid behaviour in a smaller footprint, making it ideal for touring, houses of worship and live event venues. “We are very grateful to d&b for coming out to South Africa to support us with this endeavour, and most importantly, we are grateful to our valued clients for spending this time with us to explore these technologies,” says Furman. “We’re looking forward to supporting new owners of CCL systems in South Africa.”
