PSI Audio A326 D-REX Panel Update for LFE

PSI Audio A326 D REX with LFE

Always eager to improve and refine, PSI Audio equips the A326 D-REX bass enhancement for the A226-MAIN monitor speakers with an LFE input section. Models already in use can be upgraded. The PSI Audio A326 D-REX is not a subwoofer in the conventional sense; it was designed to work in tandem with the A226-MAIN high-end monitors to optimize its dynamic capabilities. Hence the name: Dynamic Range EXtender. Together, the A226-MAIN and A326 D-REX present the largest system PSI Audio has ever created, delivering the company’s trademark sonic accuracy in its most accomplished form. The latest update allows the combination to also perform perfectly in cinematic contexts – without the need for an additional LFE.

While the PSI Audio A326 D-REX was developed to support the A226-MAIN and further refine its dynamic response, it has all the technical capabilities to act as an LFE in immersive setups. With a frequency range from 20 Hz to 160 Hz and 126 dB peak sound pressure, the A326 D-REX actually meets the standards for Dolby Atmos. To harness this potential, PSI Audio updates the electronics slightly and adds an LFE connector section to the panel. The LFE signal can be fed in separately from the stereo signal, and the Link output can pass the input signal on to another LFE, for example. The signal level can be adjusted from -10 to +10 dB, which also affects the signal passed forward. When both the LFE input and the stereo inputs are used, the A326 D-REX sums the signals and reproduces the entirety of the low-frequency range.

PSI Audio stands for absolute sonic fidelity: all the various monitor speakers are designed to reproduce audio exactly as it is, with no colouration or distortion of any kind. The A326 D-REX expands this philosophy to the LFE channels of cinematic productions, allowing audio professionals and creators to accurately assess the impact of their low-frequency content, be it for film, music, or any other audio application.

In order to achieve the ideal of perfectly unaltered audio reproduction, PSI Audio develops and builds all speakers in the company’s own workshop in Yverdon-les-Bains in Switzerland. From the careful selection of components all the way to the final measurements in the anechoic chamber, every step is taken by well-trained specialists to ensure outstanding quality in sound and craftsmanship. As a testament to the manufacturer’s meticulosity, every speaker comes with its very own measuring graph.

The PSI Audio A326 D-REX is already being shipped with the new LFE panel; every A326 D-REX going forward will automatically feature the LFE input
