How to resolve AdBlock issue? Sommer cable SC-Octave Tube Stereo Microphone Cable
The new SC-Octave Tube Stereo Microphone Cable from Sommer cable has been specially developed for stereo tube microphones. It bundles eight conductors within one durable jacket. The four audio conductors for the stereo pair each consist of 72 super-fine wires and ensure a linear transmission with exceptional flexibility. These are supplemented by two control conductors, one anode wire and one heating voltage wire. This allows the cable to meet even the complex demands of modern studio environments.
A full shielding made of spiral copper braid plus AL foil reliably protects the signals from electromagnetic interference. The robust PVC jacket with a diameter of 6.5 mm ensures high durability and easy handling, even with frequent use on stage or in the studio.
The cable was developed in close collaboration with field users. Peter Drefahl comments: “As an international service tech for vintage studio microphones I am often faced with the task of replacing defective or aged cables for stereo tube microphones – such as the AKG C24 or the Neumann SM series. However, no optimal material was available for this purpose until now. The cables were either too stiff, too thick, too microphonic, or simply not robust enough for daily studio use. With these requirements in mind, I approached Sommer cable in late 2025. Within a short development period, the Octave Tube Stereo was designed which perfectly gets the job done both electrically and mechanically while offering high flexibility and ideal dimensions.
