Steinberg Nuendo 15
Steinberg has today announced the immediate availability of Nuendo 15, which includes new features and workflow improvements for accurate dialogue editing, efficient mixing, and smoother session management to help audio professionals work with even greater consistency and speed.
Nuendo has been a vital tool in creating the memorable soundtracks for many high-profile movies, TV shows, games, and immersive experiences. The latest version sees it evolve again, with integral measurement of dialogue intelligibility, improved automation, simplified multi-channel management, new sound design tools, a scalable user interface, and a range of other powerful workflow improvements.
An industry-first feature is the Analyzer Track, which allows dialogue intelligibility to be precisely measured and displayed within Nuendo 15. Based on Fraunhofer IDMT technology, at-a-glance, color-based metering means problem areas can be instantly identified, with real-time analysis or the new offline analysis and display feature on the Analyzer Track alongside adjustable thresholds to align dialogue with broadcaster specifications.Nuendo 15 sees the film mixing automation system significantly updated, with a new vertical, space-saving view, while the automation system introduces several new functions. These include parameter selection by simply touching plug-in controls, copy/paste automation, individual track punch out in Latch Mode, clearer visual automation states, and more.
A long-requested feature is Convert Channels, which automatically splits or merges files to match a selected track layout. Surround clips can be quickly broken down into structured stems or mono files combined into stereo pairs during import or across multiple tracks, reducing repetitive setup tasks and streamlining session preparation. An important new feature for broadcast and post-production is direct import of MXF video and audio tracks from OP1a containers. Offering immediate compatibility with AVC Intra 50/100/200 and MPEG-2 codecs, more formats will be supported in future updates. Support for MPF and MXF/S ADM imports also means full scene metadata can now be brought into a session.
Meanwhile, video export sees flexible resolution and encoding options added. These include a range of presets, software or GPU encoding, and support for text overlays from the active marker track, allowing timecode, dialogue, and other ADR attributes to be burned into the exported video. A quick export option also streamlines audio rendering, supporting faster previews and intermediate deliverables during active sessions.
Nuendo 15 adds all the latest audio and sound design features from Cubase 15. These include AI-powered stem separation, which is perfect for vocal isolation and rebalancing, plus a redesigned Expression Maps system to refine articulation control. The DAWproject format offers expanded interoperability, allowing projects to move between Nuendo, Cubase, Cubasis, and other supported DAWs while maintaining structure and intent.
New effects include the UltraShaper compressor, which combines transient shaping, clip limiting, and EQ sculpting for precisely controlled dynamics. The real-time PitchShifter includes formant preservation, saturation modes, stereo unlinking, and a ±24 semitone range, plus there are six new Modulators to add motion and evolving textures. Natural-sounding synthesized vocals can be created with the Omnivocal plug-in, extending the possibilities of vocal design, temp dialogue, and experimental applications, while expressive monophonic or polyphonic melodic patterns can be created with the Pattern Sequencer.
Additional sounds are also included in Nuendo 15, with expanded HALion libraries, the redesigned Groove Agent SE, a collection of 40 modern Drum Machine kits, plus extra, genre-spanning loop packs and curated samples. 30 new Chord Pad presets also deliver ready-to-use harmonic structures for tonal references, sustained beds or compositional placeholders.

A new Hub means sessions begin more easily, with resizable panels, project previews, and enhanced search and filtering options, while a redesigned ADR panel provides a clearer structure and more streamlined visual layout. Any Folder Track can also now be assigned its own group channel, with tracks in the folder automatically routed to their corresponding bus. Volume and pan controls are available directly within the track controls area, including customizable layouts per track type and, in macOS, Nuendo 15 supports native full-screen mode, enabling immersive editing and mixing across Project and MixConsole windows.
Other new workflow features and improvements include:
- WaveLab Go, a new ARA extension which builds on WaveLab Pro’s highly regarded editing technology, comprising mastering-grade audio analysis, editing, and repair tools.
- An updated Score Editor with new tools and enhanced workflows.
- New color schemes which improve the readability of various SuperVision modules.
- Improved Headphones Match, with new and updated compensation curves for headphones from Audeze, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, Fiio, Sennheiser, Shure, and more.
- All stock effect plug-ins include user-adjustable interface scaling.
- Pinch-to-zoom gestures on compatible macOS devices for smooth navigation and precise timeline control.
- The Sampler Track now enables instant sample replacement via MediaBay Hot Swap, with improved filtering to speed up selection and auditioning.
