Tascam Sonicview 2.2 Firmware Update
Tascam has announced the 2.2 firmware update for its Sonicview 16 and Sonicview 24 mixing and recording consoles, adding key new features and expanded control options. The update improves Ember+ protocol compatibility, enabling broader parameter control and enabling more flexible, centralised system integration for broadcasters and AV professionals. The planned integration with the new Mixing Station App, expected in summer 2025, will enable performers to manage their monitor mixes using iOS and Android devices, thereby reducing their reliance on FOH or monitor engineers in live settings.
Version 2.2 introduces a new Routing Matrix screen, offering a clear graphical overview of all input/output routing in one place, thereby streamlining signal management across the console. User Key functionality has been expanded to include up to 64 additional keys via the LCD screen, as well as a new library for user-defined controls. This allows multiple custom configurations for User Keys, GPIOs and footswitches to be saved and recalled.
Further enhancements include direct port-to-port routing between inputs and outputs, and the new Input Source A/B feature, which enables switching between two sources on a single module – a particularly useful option in broadcast environments. Tascam has also introduced over 20 additional features aimed at improving workflow and usability in live sound, broadcast, and installation environments.
