With two XLR/TRS combo jacks and a mini jack, shotgun and condenser microphones can be used with the camera, as can lavalier microphones and line-level sources. The powerful A/D converters transmit the audio signal digitally via the accessory shoe and draw their power directly from the camera body – it couldn't be more convenient. There is also a headphone output for monitoring, an integrated shock-absorbing microphone mount and an analogue output.
