Rhodes Music Clav Pro

Rhodes Music introduces the Rhodes Clav Pro plug-in, a faithful recreation of a rare 1977 Clav D6 "Transition" model. Capturing the sharp attack, expressive response, and rhythmic character that helped define the sound of funk, soul, disco, and rock, Clav Pro brings the distinctive sound and playing experience of the D6 to today's keyboardists, composers, and producers.
Few keyboard instruments have left as lasting a mark on popular music as the Clav D6. Emerging during the height of funk, soul, disco, and rock, its sharp attack, percussive feel, and highly responsive action gave keyboardists a new way to approach rhythm, bringing the energy and immediacy traditionally associated with rhythm guitar to the keyboard. Its distinctive voice quickly became a defining element of countless recordings, from Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" and Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon" to Bob Marley's "Could You Be Loved," Fleetwood Mac's "You Make Loving Fun," and numerous recordings by the Bee Gees. More than five decades later, its character continues to inspire musicians.
Sampled by Rhodes' world-class sound designers from a rare 1977 Clav D6 "Transition" model, Clav Pro faithfully recreates not only the iconic sound of the original instrument, but also the expressive playing experience that made it a favorite of generations of keyboardists. Every aspect of the instrument, from its pickup selection system, mute controls, and EQ circuitry to its immediate dynamic response, has been meticulously recreated to preserve the character, feel, and musicality of the original.
“With Clav Pro, the goal wasn't only to recreate a vintage Clavinet authentically, it was also to capture the very essence and spirit of why players fell in love with the instrument in the first place,” said Dan Goldman, Chief Product Officer at Rhodes. “The remit was to preserve all the feel, bite, and attitude of a beautifully set-up original D6, while extending its sonic and sound-shaping capabilities far beyond its original design.”
Clav Pro introduces dedicated Drive, Compression, and Envelope/Wah controls, allowing players to move effortlessly from tight rhythmic stabs and muted funk grooves to expressive lead sounds while remaining true to the unmistakable character of the Clav D6. Added sustain pedal support and pitch bend functionality further expand the instrument's performance possibilities beyond the limitations of the vintage hardware.
Using the same powerful engine that powers Rhodes Anthology, Clav Pro combines vintage authenticity with the flexibility of a modern virtual instrument. Timbre Shift allows players to move seamlessly from pristine studio sparkle to gritty, road-worn character, exploring a wide range of tonal personalities inspired by different eras and conditions of the vintage instrument. Meticulously modelled amplifier simulations, multiple microphone options, adjustable cabinet resonance, authentic key noise modelling, and the integrated Rhodes FX suite expand Clav Pro's sonic possibilities while preserving the character and playing experience of the Clav D6.
