Lawo AoIP Solutions for AZAM TV

LAWO Azam OB Truck Audio Control Room e s

As one of East Africa’s leading broadcasters, AZAM TV relies on robust and agile production facilities to deliver live sports, entertainment and news programming to audiences across the region. To further enhance the capabilities of one of its OB vehicles, the broadcaster has upgraded its audio infrastructure with a seamlessly integrated Lawo IP ecosystem centered around HOME, Lawo’s management platform for IP-based broadcast environments. The project was realized with German systems integrator Broadcast Solutions, one of Europe’s leading broadcast technology integration specialists, responsible for the planning and implementation of complex broadcast infrastructures worldwide.

The new installation combines a 32-fader Lawo mc²36 MkII production console with A__stage80 and A__stage48 stageboxes, an A__digital64 Audio-over-IP gateway, and HOME-enabled control and management. Together, these components form a coherent production environment in which signal acquisition, routing, processing and control become part of a single, streamlined workflow.

At the core of the installation is Lawo HOME, the management platform that brings the entire IP infrastructure together. Automatically discovering and managing connected resources, HOME unifies the mc²36 MkII, A__stage80, A__stage48, and A__digital64, as well as third-party devices within a single operational environment, simplifying deployment and day-to-day operation while ensuring seamless interoperability across SMPTE ST 2110, AES67 and RAVENNA networks.

Audio enters the system through Lawo’s A__stage80 and A__stage48 stageboxes, positioned wherever signals originate. Microphones, commentary units and other sources are converted directly into IP streams and made instantly available across the network. The resulting reduction in cabling complexity not only accelerates setup and teardown times but also provides the flexibility required for a wide variety of live production scenarios.

All signals converge at the mc²36 MkII, whose compact footprint and comprehensive processing capabilities make it ideally suited to mobile production. Acting as the creative and operational center of the truck, the console gives operators direct access to all networked resources while delivering the sonic transparency, workflow efficiency and reliability for which Lawo’s mc² family is known. Complementing the IP workflow, the A__digital64 gateway integrates AES3-based devices into the network, ensuring interoperability with existing equipment while preserving a clear path toward future expansion. The result is an infrastructure that remains both technologically open and investment-secure.

More than a technical refresh, AZAM TV’s upgrade establishes a connected audio ecosystem in which every element - from stagebox to console, gateway and management layer - works as part of a unified whole. The benefits are felt throughout the production chain: faster deployment, simpler operation, greater resilience and, ultimately, a consistently superior listening experience for viewers.

Raghvendra Tiwari, HOD – Technical, Azam TV, states: “The installation of the Lawo mc²36 audio console marks a significant milestone in Azam TV’s broadcast infrastructure. It provides a future-ready foundation for IP-based live audio production workflows, delivering greater operational efficiency, enhanced reliability, and the flexibility needed to meet the evolving demands of the broadcast industry.”
