Sonnet Twin25G T5

Sonnet Technologies today announced the Twin25G T5, the top product in the company’s line of Thunderbolt, USB-C, and PCIe Ethernet network adapters. The Twin25G T5 adapter adds blazing-fast, dual-port 25GbE network connectivity to Mac, Windows, and Linux computers with Thunderbolt or USB4 ports. The adapter includes two 25GBASE-SR SFP28 transceivers, enabling 25GbE connectivity at distances up to 100 meters.
The Twin25G T5 adapter connects compatible laptop, mini desktop, and all-in-one computers to 25GbE-enabled network infrastructure and storage systems via LC fiber optic cables (sold separately), delivering reliable, ultra-high-performance networking for professional video workflows, shared storage, large file transfers, and other bandwidth-intensive applications. The adapter includes a Thunderbolt 5 peripheral port that supports the connection of a high performance USB device or an up to 6K Thunderbolt display without impacting the Ethernet performance.
As postproduction shared storage environments and other bandwidth-intensive workflows continue to outgrow the capabilities of 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE), upgrading to 25GbE offers a compelling path to faster performance and greater productivity. With significantly more bandwidth and the ability to leverage much of the same optical network infrastructure already used for 10GbE, 25GbE delivers a practical, future-ready upgrade. The recent arrival of highly affordable 25GbE switches has made the transition more accessible than ever — yet connecting the Mac computers widely used in professional postproduction to these networks has typically required a costly investment.
Sonnet’s Twin25G T5 removes that cost barrier, bringing high-performance 25GbE connectivity to computers equipped with Thunderbolt or USB4 ports at a suggested retail price approximately 66% of that of the main competing product. By making next-generation network performance substantially more affordable and easy to deploy, Twin25G T5 enables postproduction teams to unlock the full potential of their shared storage and bandwidth-intensive workflows without the traditionally high cost of connecting their computers.
Twin25G T5 features include:
- The built-in temperature-controlled, variable-speed fan keeps the adapter always running cool and quiet, even under sustained, heavy workloads.
- With the inclusion of the SFP28 transceivers, Sonnet takes the guesswork out of users having to choose appropriate modules for the job.
- Along with a Thunderbolt 5 cable, the Twin25G T5 adapter includes a ThunderLok Thunderbolt connector lock that secures the cable to the adapter to prevent accidental cable disconnects.
Twin25G T5 (part number TWIN25G-T5) is available now from Sonnet and from its worldwide distribution and reseller partners at a price of $999.99.
